Raising Awareness for Brain Injury Awareness Month

Raising Awareness for Brain Injury Awareness Month

This week, we want to recognize Brain Injury Awareness Month, which is happening this March! The Brain Injury Association of America is hosting events online and in-person throughout the month to raise awareness and build community.

The BIAA specifies that “An acquired brain injury (ABI) is an injury to the brain that is not hereditary, congenital, degenerative, or induced by birth trauma. ” (BIAA). An acquired brain injury is caused by internal factors (like tumors), but a traumatic brain injury is caused by external factors (like a car crash or a fall).

While individuals with a brain unjustly don’t typically require nursing services, they may benefit from PCA care, or similar kinds of assistance. Communities of Care is happy to support community awareness and advocacy!
