Handmade Holidays: Local Makers Markets in the Twin Cities

As we enter the holiday season, gifts may look a little different this year. An excellent option for unsure shoppers is supporting local brands at a handful of makers markets around the Twin Cities. Here’s an extensive list of Minnesota markets this holiday season.

European Christmas Market at Union Depot

This longstanding local market hosts local vendors skilled in everything from wreaths to bath bombs to pancakes and has been a downtown staple since 2014. The market runs weekends from Friday, November 26-Sunday December 19. Open Friday 4 PM – 9 PM, Saturday 10 AM – 8 PM, and Sunday 11 AM – 6 PM. Location: Union Depot at 240 East Kellogg Blvd. St Paul, MN 55101

Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt

Based on the open-air markets of Germany, Excelsior’s market features traditional food, along with artistic artisans based in Minnesota. Many vendors will be at both Christkindlsmarkt, and The market runs weekends Friday, November 26 – December 5 from 10 am-7 pm

The Departments at Dayton’s 

The iconic department store of a bygone era has been repurposed to house vendors focused on small-batch, creative self-care items. The market is open Monday-Saturday 10 am – 6 pm and Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm at 700 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55402

I’m Joan, and I know home care from the inside out. I’ve navigated my daughter through 24/7 home care nursing and managed her PCA’s. I’ve helped my parents move into (and out of) assisted living, Medicare episodes, skilled nurse visits, home health aids, and PCAs. So I’m going to have this blog and write about home care from time to time. I’ll include topics like current legislation, professional boundaries in a tricky environment, and being a caregiver.
